Children entering kindergarten through fifth grade this fall are invited to the free 30-minute interactive learning series “Junior Historians” at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck. Children and their accompanying adult(s) are asked to meet at the west entrance information desk.  The goal of the “Junior Historians” program is to cultivate an interest and passion for North Dakota’s history through stories, fun activities and discussions.

Jan. 11 Martin Luther King Jr., 11 a.m. Martin Luther King Jr. was a civil rights leader who prompted peace and understanding among everyone. Create your own peace dove with paint and cotton swabs.

Jan. 18 Penguins, 11 a.m. Have you ever wondered how tall a penguin is in real life? Measure your height and compare it to some penguins and learn about how they live.

Jan. 22 Penguins, 4 p.m. Have you ever wondered how tall a penguin is in real life? Join us as we measure ourselves against some penguins and learn about how they live.

Jan. 25 Winter Sports, 11 a.m. Some sports, like hockey, can only be played when it is cold and there is snow and ice on the ground. Learn about the history of hockey and test out how different pucks work on the ice.
