Children entering kindergarten through fifth grade this fall are invited to the free 30-minute interactive learning series “Junior Historians” at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck. Children and their accompanying adult(s) are asked to meet at the west entrance information desk.  The goal of the “Junior Historians” program is to cultivate an interest and passion for North Dakota’s history through stories, fun activities and discussions.

June 7 and 11, French Gratitude Train, 11 a.m. Discover the story behind the French Gratitude Train—a heartfelt gift from the people of France to the United States. Imagine your own gratitude train and decide on items to place within it.

June 14 and 18, Homes of North Dakota, 11 a.m. Explore many types of homes people lived in within this region and discover how they were built to fit the climate and their unique needs. Design and build your own small home using popsicle sticks.

June 21 and 25, Cowboy Culture, 11 a.m. Learn about cowboy culture in North Dakota and play a game of cowboy bingo.

June 28 and July 2, Liberty Bell, 11 a.m. The Liberty Bell is a lasting symbol of freedom and independence in the United States. Explore its history and significance, then create your own Liberty Bell to take home.
