Northern Plains Dance will present The Little Mermaid at the Belle Mehus City Auditorium in Bismarck Saturday, May 4 at 2:30 and 7:30 and Sunday, May 5 at 2:30. A great show for families, The Little Mermaid features nearly 100 performers from the Northern Plains Dance Academy. The Little Mermaid is certain to please all ages with elaborate costumes and original choreography.
The Little Mermaid features a musical score by Peter Ernst Lassen from the ballet, Napoli. The story follows the beloved Hans Christen Andersen fairy tale, in which a beautiful mermaid dreamed of the land above the sea. Based on the original tale of unrequited love and mistaken identity, Northern Plains Dance embarks on a new production that will enchant audiences young and old. Lead roles will be danced by Northern Plains Dance Academy students, Lauren Theurer, Jenny Schollars, Annie Fischer, Hannah Houle, Tabatha Lambrecht, and Maddy Peterson. The role of the Prince will be performed by guest artist, Mykl Navi, of Nashville, TN. The Little Mermaid will be Navi’s debut performance with Northern Plains Dance.
In conjunction with The Little Mermaid, Northern Plains Dance will be hosting “Under the Sea Brunch” in the Conductor’s Room of the Belle Mehus at 12:30 pm May 4 and 5, prior to both matinee performances. Children and adults will enjoy story time, a backstage tour, and treats. Tickets to “Under the Sea Brunch” are $12.00 per person and are sold separately from the tickets for The Little Mermaid.
